So what does Twitter and Sub2/Subject2 investing have in common?
Well, not much really, I just want to chat about some of your marketing techniques and how to maximize them especially using Twitter.
I recently wrote a blog post Sub2 Marketing, New vs. Old and unless you’re under a rock or just plain ignoring the elephant in the room, you know about Twitter.
When I think of ‘marketing’ and Twitter, I think of spammy MLM’s and Twitter follower programs that promise the fruity alcoholic drinks with pretty little umbrellas in them lifestyle. I’m sure most of us are just as annoyed with the Auto-DM systems out there that people use to promote themselves, products, blogs or whatever they’re ‘Pushing’
Twitter can really be effective if you use it right for your business. Chris Brogan, one of, if not my favorite blogger/visionary wrote a blog post some time ago titled: 50 Ideas on Using Twitter for Business that is just flat out amazing! It’s no wonder why I make so many mentions of him when he’s not even a Sub2 investor.
How do I use Twitter to ‘market’ my Sub2 business?
- I don’t ‘market’ I connect
- I seek out those that I’m interested in
- I personally and sincerely greet them
- I view them as a valuable connection, not a potential ‘lead’
- I promote them and participate on their blogs
- I offer them assistance
I’m sure you noticed something missing, that is, I don’t ‘market’ to them! I build a relationship with them. They’re going to either check me out, click on my link in the profile space, read a blog or two of my own and more importantly, they’re going to inquire more about me, what I do and become interested in me, my business and what I’m blogging about.
Is this expected as I put forth the effort to connect with them? Naw, not even close, I’m simply making connections and building relationships, I know the other stuff will follow naturally so I don’t falsely give them a sincere greeting, I actually mean it. Will this result in business every time? Nope, of course not or else there would be ‘gurus’ telling you to do it.
What it is though is FREE and targeted. Instead of placing ads in papers, putting out FREE Bandit Signs, regardless of how effective you Place the Bandit Signs. You can connect with other Real Estate Professionals like Realtors and Mortgage Brokers, you can connect with those that do the traditional marketing and leverage them to bring you Sub2 deals.
Simply use search.twitter.com and search for your town + realtors or mortgage brokers, who ever you would to connect with and see what you come up with.
Even greater is that you can connect with them on other Social Media/Networking platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn.
All this can be done with virtually no out of pocket expenses! The only investment required from you is Time. How you spend that time depends on you, you can create, print and mail out postcards or place an ad in a local newspaper or you can nail down your target connections and spend less time and get a higher return on your time invested.
So get to it, create a Twitter account, it’s FREE and effective!
